College’s History

The College started its first classes for the first year Pre-University (Arts) Course in the evening (or Night Shift) at the Block Information Centre (as kindly permitted by the Directorate C&RD, Meghalaya) on 1st August, 1978 with Shri. S.B. Sohmat as the Founder Principal.The College was inaugurated officially by Shri. S.D. Khongwir, Dy. Chief Minister, Meghalaya on 19.09.1978. The main Subjects introduced were: English, Khasi (MIL), History, Education, Political Science, Economics and Second Language (Khasi).

Our Vision

To instill a spirit of full commitment and devotion among students at the mental and spiritual level so that they become good citizens who would serve the society as enshrined in the College motto. To produce leaders who will be agents of social change, primarily among the communities they live in, and in the nation as a whole; and to make the College serve local, national and as well global needs by providing quality human resource, by shaping intellectually sound, ethically sensitive and socially compassionate graduates.

Our Mission

To promote social unity, religious tolerance and community development to foster national Integration with a thrust on achieving academic ambience. The College Mission is to achieve the vision of the founders by establishing and managing educational institutions based on the four cardinal principles of discipline, sound education, sports & service.

Objectives

Right from the inception, the Management had a vision that the Society are going to be knowledge driven and Nongstoin cannot afford to be left behind in the race of developing the Higher Education simply because a substantial population of the total population is illiterate. The Governing Body undertakes serious efforts to provide Higher Education of all different Streams to the young people and to make conscious efforts to bring to bulk of the population above the poverty line.

To promote moral, secular, scientific and national building value, in order to make the students respect, protect and nurture the rich composite culture of the District in particular and the Country in general.
